Rollei camera serial number decoder

Find out when your Rollei camera was made

This tool allows you to enter your Rollei camera's serial number and find out when and where it was made. It covers the major Rollei camera families: Rolleiflex TLR cameras (2.8 and 3.5 series), Rolleicord TLR cameras, the Rollei 35 compact family, and the Rolleiflex SL66 and 6000 System medium format SLR cameras. The serial number on a Rolleiflex or Rolleicord TLR is printed or engraved on the nameplate below the viewfinder lens, or on the shutter housing below the taking lens on later models. On the Rollei 35 it is on the back of the camera near the rewind lever (some later models have it inside under the take-up spool). Entering the model name alongside the serial number will give the most accurate result.

Tip: Selecting a model from the list above will give you the most accurate result. If you're not sure of the model, just enter the serial number and the tool will tell you all the models it could be.

Note on coded serial numbers: Rollei 35 TE and SE cameras (from 1979) and all Rolleiflex SL66/6000-series cameras use a coded 9-digit serial number. Rolleiflex TLR cameras made from 1987 onwards (2.8GX, FX series) use a coded 7-digit number. In both cases, the year and even the exact week of manufacture can be decoded from the serial number — just enter it above.
